The Aerospace Corporation to Hold Ribbon-Cutting
Ceremony at New Colorado Springs Facility on September 12

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (Sept. 6, 2007) -- The Aerospace Corporation will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open its new regional office building in the Colorado Springs Airport Business Park at 11:30 a.m. (MDT) on Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Among those expected to be on hand for the event, besides officials of The Aerospace Corporation and members of its board of trustees, are Colorado Springs Mayor Lionel Rivera; Dave Csintyan, CEO of the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce; and Mark Earle, aviation director of the Colorado Springs Airport.

Aerospace representatives will include President and CEO William F. Ballhaus Jr.; Lt. Gen. Donald L. Cromer (USAF, Ret.), chair of the board of trustees; and Jerry M. (Mike) Drennan, vice president of Space Operations, Requirements and Technology and head of the company's Colorado Springs operations. Also representing Aerospace will be Dr. Wanda M. Austin who has been selected to succeed Ballhaus as president and CEO when he retires at the end of the year. Austin currently is senior vice president of the company's National Systems Group.

The event will take place at 7250 Getting Heights where Aerospace has constructed a two-story, 78,000-square-foot structure on 30 acres of property leased from the Colorado Springs Airport Authority. The building will house employees who are relocating from the company's leased quarters at 1150 Academy Park Loop.

The Aerospace Corporation, which is based in El Segundo, Calif., has about 130 employees working in the Colorado Springs area, most supporting Air Force Space Command. While most work in the company's office, some work onsite at Peterson and Schriever Air Force bases and at the National Security Space Institute. Aerospace has maintained a regional office in Colorado Springs since 1989.

Drennan said that relocating from the leased building at Academy Park Loop to the new facility represents a long-term commitment to Air Force Space Command and to the city of Colorado Springs. In addition, he said the building will provide greater capability to support the Air Force and will result in a long-term cost savings to the service by fixing occupancy costs at today's cost of construction and avoiding increases in inflationary lease costs.

"We are very pleased to be moving into the Airport Business Park," Drennan said. "It will help us realize our corporate business objective of providing the best possible support to our customers at the lowest possible cost, and it will allow us to look toward the future with confidence knowing that we can accommodate growth."

The Aerospace Corporation last year became the first company to sign a lease with the Airport Authority for space in the Airport Business Park and this year becomes the first to occupy offices at the site.

The Aerospace Corporation, based in El Segundo, Calif., is an independent, nonprofit company that provides objective technical analyses and assessments for national-security space programs and selected civil and commercial space programs in the national interest.
