The Aerospace Corporation Announces
Promotions of Willard Downs, Jean Michael

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (4/17/07) — The Aerospace Corporation has announced that Willard D. Downs III has been promoted to principal engineer in the Computer Engineering Subdivision and Jean L. Michael has been promoted to associate principal director in the National Polar-orbiting Environmental Satellite Systems (NPOESS) organization.

Downs, who works at the company’s headquarters in El Segundo, Calif., will coordinate and manage a wide variety of projects and tasks that support advanced national-security space missions, especially in the areas of complex simulations, technical analyses, and software evaluations. He advances from director of the Computer Systems Engineering Department.

Michael, in the corporation’s Silver Spring, Md., office, will be responsible for supporting the NPOESS system program director and managing the company’s resources in support of the NPOESS program. She was promoted from systems director in the NPOESS organization.

The Aerospace Corporation is an independent, nonprofit company that provides objective technical analyses and assessments for national security space programs and selected civil and commercial space programs in the national interest.
