Norm Lantz Receives Telemetering Award

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (12/18/00) -- Norm Lantz, senior project leader in The Aerospace Corporation's Space Based Surveillance Division, received the Telemetering Pioneer Award from the International Foundation for Telemetering (IFT) during the 36th International Telemetering Conference in San Diego.

The IFT was established in 1964 as a nonprofit group dedicated to serving the professional and technical interests of the telemetering community. Lantz was recognized for his "exceptional technical contributions to and leadership in the field of telemetering including the development of telemetering standards," a foundation press release stated.

He has been a member of the IFT board of directors for 12 years and currently serves as vice president and awards chair. He has also served as general chair, technical program chair, and tutorial instructor during his 16 years of service on the International Telemetering Conference Committee.

Lantz has been active in the Range Commanders Council Telemetry Group for 25 years, including two years as chair.

"This award is well deserved for Mr. Lantz's 37 years of dedicated service to the field of communications, command, and telemetry systems for space and missile system programs," the release stated.

Former Aerospace President Dr. Eberhardt Rechtin is a previous recipient of the award.
