Two New Books by Aerospace Press and AIAA Due Next Month

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (8/11/99) -- Two new books are scheduled for release next month under a copublishing agreement between The Aerospace Press and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).

The first book published under the new agreement, "Microengineering Aerospace Systems," by Dr. Henry Helvajian, was released last month.

Due out next month are "Dynamics of Meteor Outbursts and Satellite Mitigation Strategies," by Dr. Glenn Peterson, and "Civil, Commercial, and International Remote Sensing Systems and Geoprocessing," by David Glackin and Gerard Peltzer.

The former offers mitigation strategies to assist the satellite community in reducing the potential danger to orbiting spacecraft posed by Leonid meteoroids and other meteor showers over the next several years.

The latter provides an overview of the field of satellite environmental remote sensing of the Earth's atmosphere, oceans and land surface from 1980 to 2007.

AIAA prints, markets and distributes books produced through The Aerospace Press under a five-year contract.

AIAA also markets and distributes previous Aerospace Press publications, including "Communication Satellites 1958-1995," by Donald H. Martin; "Satellite Thermal Control Handbook," David Gilmore, editor; "International Launch Site Guide," Dr. Roy Chiulli, editor; "Micro and Nanotechnology for Space Systems," Dr. Helvajian and Ernest Robinson, editors; and "Microengineering Technology for Space Systems," Dr. Helvajian, editor.

The AIAA publication catalog is available online at www.aiaa.org/ publications/index.html. Books can be ordered online or by calling 1-800-682-2422.

The Aerospace Press, a department of The Aerospace Institute, publishes books, monographs, conference proceedings and electronic products on critical technical topics in aerospace science and technology.

Inquiries about the Press or any of its publications can be directed to Dr. David Evans, executive director of the Institute and acting director of the Press, or Dr. Donna Born, editor.
