Dr. Wanda Austin, President and CEO of The Aerospace Corporation, Elected a Member of the National Academy of Engineering

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (Feb. 13, 2008) -- Dr. Wanda M. Austin, president and CEO of The Aerospace Corporation, has been elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering.

In making the announcement Feb. 8, the academy cited Austin for leadership in the engineering and integration of national space intelligence systems. She was inducted along with 64 other top engineers in the United States and nine foreign associates. Making the announcement was NAE President Charles M. Vest. Election to the National Academy of Engineering is among the highest professional distinctions an engineer can achieve.

Austin, who became president and CEO of The Aerospace Corporation on Jan. 1, 2008, is internationally recognized for her work in satellite and payload system acquisition, systems engineering and system simulation. She was inducted into the WITI (Women in Technology International) Hall of Fame in September 2007.

The new members and foreign associates will be formally inducted into the academy Oct. 5 at the NAE's annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
